An excellent audience thoroughly enjoyed this remarkable film.

Mylor Movies - Brighton Rock (15) Directed by Rowan Joffe and starring Helen Mirren, Andrea Riseborough, John Hurt and Sam Riley.
A remake of Graham Greene's classic thriller updated from 40s to 60s Brighton.  A very enjoyable evening for a good sized audience.

Event in memory of Liz Harris raised almost £600.
Local History Group lecture - Animal, wind and water power in Cornwall by Russell Holt.

The Kenwyn Barton Singers presented The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan.
An audience of about 50 enjoyed a rousing performance.

Mylor Movies - Water for Elephants (12A) Directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz.
Jacob defies his parents by running away to the circus. With superb 1930's detail, this is an old fashioned family film which is an emotional, inspiring and romantic epic. A well received entertainment for a moderately good sized audience.

Mylor Movies - Mao's Last Dancer (PG) directed by Bruce Beresford and starring Chi Cao, Bruce Greenwood & Kyle MacLachlan.
A drama based on the autobiography by Li Cunxin. At the age of 11, Li was plucked from a poor Chinese village by Madame Mao's cultural delegates and taken to Beijing to study ballet. In 1979, during a cultural exchange to Texas, he fell in love with an American woman. Two years later, he managed to defect and went on to perform as a principal dancer for the Houston Ballet. A lovely and engaging film much enjoyed by a good sized audience.

A dramatization of the 1968 strike at the Ford Dagenham car plant, where female workers walked out in protest against sexual discrimination.

Coffee Morning and Exhibition - jointly organised by the Christmas Lights Committee and the Local History Group. Stalls, Launch of Photo Competition, Decorate the Easter Tree, Raffle, Country Dancing by Mylor Primary School.

Mylor Movies - The King's Speech (12A) directed by Tom Hooper and starring Helena Bonham Carter, Colin Firth, Guy Pearce, Geoffrey Rush, Michael Gambon, Timothy Spall and many others. Winner of four Oscars, including 'best film'.
A capacity audience thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful film - shown by spontaneous applause at the end. We were very sorry to have to refuse entry to some people, but we cannot exceed the legal limit set by fire regulations. Sadly we cannot offer a second showing either, as the film distributors will not allow it.

Singing up a storm - Kimber's Men, a renowned sea shanty group, performed in aid of the Mylor Playing Field Refurbishment Project. A packed hall was very appreciative and enjoyed the included pasty supper and the bar. Click here for some pictures.

Mylor Movies - RED (12A) directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren and Karl Urban.
An encouragingly large and enthusiastic audience enjoyed this action packed action/comedy which had improbable and spoof-like scenarios which were highly entertaining. Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren gave particularly good performances.
N.B. The King's Speech has been postponed until 30 March.

Mylor Movies - Another Year (PG13) directed by Mike Leigh and starring Jim Broadbent, Lesley Manville, Ruth Sheen. An excellent film enjoyed by an audience of more than 30.
