Pensioners out to lunch
The Christmas spirit of generosity was out in force in Mylor when 50 pensioners from the village enjoyed a festive dinner. Members if Mylor Village Lunch club joined together two days before Christmas for a special meal of turkey soup, Christmas pudding, mince pies and mulled wine.
There were crackers on all the tables, party hats for everyone and musical entertainment in the form of carols from Christopher Perkins, Rodney Myers and Nicholas Trefusis, accompanied by Viv Curnow on the keyboard. Sarita Perkins, who helped to organise the meal and serve it with a team of helpers from Mylor and Flushing, said: "We felt a lot of people might be rather lonely today so it is nice to get everyone together. The volunteers have all been brilliant - we all love doing it.
The pensioners meet for lunch every Tuesday, but were able to enjoy the Christmas dinner free of charge thanks to a donation from Age Concern.
