A mylor resident decided to ask for donations in lieu of presents for her 95th birthday and raised £170 for the Tremayne Hall Restoration Fund. Irene Champion held a party for friends and family in the village's parish hall, but has fond memories of her early days in the Tremayne Hall.

She remembers winning first prize in a fancy dress competition at a dance and being presented with a box of chocolates.

"We had some lovely times there and I'm looking forward to seeing it back in use again."

The hall committee has been fundraising for the £800,000 project to restore the hall to its former glory. They received a lottery grant of £333,900 towards it.

The whole building is due to be restored, with additional community facilities in two phases.

The first will see the main grade II listed building and existing toilet facilities renovated/rebuilt to provide a large hall and drama group changing room which can be used for smaller meetings.

There will also be an office and storage space for the history group. The second phase, carried out when funds allow, will see further expansion with meeting rooms and additional facilities.
